Aston Villa move for Aly Cissokho

Aston Villa want to sign Valencia defender Aly Cissokho, according to Sky Sports.

The French player spent last season on loan in Merseyside at Liverpool, but did not make the move permanent and returned to Valencia.

Cissokho's career so far

Cissokho joined French side Lyon in 2009 after appearing on 15 times for previous club Porto in the Portuguese league.

The French left back made 93 appearances in the French League for Lyon scoring one goal from 2009 to 2012.

In 2012 he made the switch from France to Spain and has so far played 25 games for Valencia in the Spanish league, scoring two goals.

Villa move close

The 26 year-old was loaned from Valencia to Liverpool for the 2013/14 season. Brendan Rodgers bought him in to cover the the injured Jose Enrique.

He made 19 appearances for Liverpool in all competitions, 15 of these in the Premier League for Brendan Rodger's side.

However Aston Villa are looking for a permanent move for the French left back and Sky Sports are reporting that a deal is close to completion.
