Dave Bautista may be a great big movie star now, but the wrestling monster Batista still speaks about the WWE from time to time.
Naturally, Batista had to leave the WWE for filming and promotional work for Marvel Comics' newest blockbuster hit Guardians of the Galaxy, but the 45-year old said recently in an interview that the decision to leave the company for an extended period was certainly easier thanks to his differences with the organization.
During the interview with TampaBay.com, Batista was asked about temporarily leaving WWE.
"I put it aside for now, and that really had a lot to do with my obligations to Marvel," he said. "But it also had to do with the fact that (the WWE and I) weren't seeing eye-to-eye, creatively. The stuff they were doing with story lines just didn't make sense to me.
I'd love to go back. I'm a professional wrestler at heart and I miss it. But I want to be there and be happy with what I'm doing."
Batista's latest stint in the WWE was an awkward one to say the least and the big man has every right to be cautious about returning to the company straight away if the storyline he gets thrown into is as disorganized as the last one.
After a spell that saw him booed everywhere he went despite being a face, mocked for his choice of wrestling attire, and generally pretty much despised by most wrestling fans no matter what he did, Batista should be wary of what they have in store for him.
The Animal was a breakout star in Guardians, his character Drax the Destroyer is rumoured to potentially be getting spin off work in the near future to boot.
If he has the chance to do more acting work then of course he is going to take it rather than stay in a company that seemingly have no idea what direction they're going in right now.
Batista is best as a heel that sneers and much like his character, "destroys" all in his wake. If the WWE creative team don't understand that, and make him a good one to boot, then maybe at 45 it would be the right time to look at something else for Dave.
