Juventus manager Massimiliano Allegri has insisted that he wants midfielder Atruro Vidal to stay at the club.
This has been reported by the Express, who have suggested that the Red Devils could make the Chilean star their most expensive ever player, as they could land him for £47 million in this transfer window.
Wanted at Juventus
Despite United's interest in the midfield ace, it appears that Allegri is determined to keep his prize asset in the Serie A, with the player closing in on a return from injury.
"Things went well. It would be great if he were to stay at Juventus.
"He is running since yesterday, but we will evaluate day by day his condition and when it is best for him to start playing again.
"I am confident that he will be in perfect shape within a week or so."
Vidal, of course, has played a key role alongside former Manchester United player Paul Pogba in Juventus' midfield in recent time, and the Italian giants are seemingly desperate to retain his services as the club look to win the Serie A title once again next term.
Manchester United interest
It remains to be seen, however, as to whether the Old Trafford outfit can tie up a deal for the world-class midfielder, as Louis van Gaal looks to improve his options at the club ahead of the 2014/15 campaign.
It appears, though, that Van Gaal is worried over Vidal's fitness issues and still hasn't made up his mind over whether the press ahead with a move for the Chilean ace. It's uncertain as to whether the Serie A star can prove his fitness in time to take a medical with United ahead of a possible mega transfer.
The Red Devils will be desperate to bounce back after a disastrous season under David Moyes, and are in need of midfield additions. The likes of Tom Cleverley, Marouane Fellaini and Darren Fletcher all struggled to make an impact last season, whilst Michael Carrick has already been ruled out for the start of this campaign.
United have, however, already secured the signature of Spanish star Ander Herrera, but Red Devils fans would love Vidal to partner him in 2014/15.
