Newcastle United are poised to make a £7 million offer for Manchester United winger Wilfried Zaha - and that bid may be deemed acceptable by Red Devils’ boss Louis van Gaal, who is keen to offload the 21-year-old.
Three interested clubs
This is according to the Sunday People - and brought to our attention by the Metro - who claim that Crystal Palace are also keen to re-sign the one-time England international. Championship side Nottingham Forest are also believed to be interested in taking Zaha on loan from Old Trafford.
Forest boss Stuart Peace managed Zaha at England Under-21 level, but the player is likely to be reluctant to drop down to the Championship, even on a temporary basis.
However, a loan move would at least offer him a glimmer of hope of one day resurrecting his career at Old Trafford.
Zaha's Man Utd chances over?
Zaha has failed to cement a first-team place with Manchester United since signing for the Premier League giants in January 2013, but has managed to make an impact in pre-season.
Van Gaal experimented by deploying the lively winger in a central role against Inter Milan and, at times during the match, he looked dangerous in the attacking third thanks to his searing pace.
Zaha, who cost United an initial £10 million fee, made just two Premier League appearances for the Red Devils before being loaned out to Cardiff City for the second half of the 2013/14 campaign.
But Newcastle United are prepared to take a gamble on the Ivory Coast-born winger, who possesses all of the technical qualities to become a genuine Premier League star, but needs to fine-tune certain aspects of his game in order to become an effective team player.
