Cesc Fabregas and Ramires scored stunners for Chelsea in their penultimate friendly ahead of the new Premier League season giving Blues fans cause for optimism.
Ferencvaros were the opponents as Jose Mourinho’s side emerged victorious on their trip to Hungary after coming from behind thanks to late goals from the pair.
A goal from former Premier League star Zoltan Gera gave the home side the lead in a match that took place to mark the opening of their new home, the Groupama Arena.
A slight worry
Mourinho had injury worries early on as Didier Drogba was forced off with an ankle injury just inside half an hour, but the quality of the goals scored by Ramires and Fabregas will have the Stamford Bridge boss mildly satisfied.
The Brazilian midfielder was on hand to level the scores in the 51st minute and it was a very lovely goal at that. A cross from the left hit the head of a defender and fell to Ramires on the edge of the area, he took a fantastic first touch to tee himself up and buried a left-footed shot in the top corner.
Watch it here…
Although the result was of little significance, as with most pre-season friendlies, it’s always better to win and Fabregas sealed it in style.
The £30million summer signing picked up the ball from a throw on the right, turned into the box neatly and slalomed past defenders before smashing home. It was a very solo goal and Chelsea fans will be pleased when they watch it below…
All in all, Chelsea’s trip to Hungary was a success and they are looking sharp ahead of their final pre-season warm up match on Tuesday against Real Sociedad.
One more to go
While the Premier League kicks off on Saturday, the Blues’ opening fixture against new boys Burnley does not take place until Monday evening, so Mourinho had a bit of extra time to squeeze in some more preparation ahead of a season they are expected to do well in.
