Chelsea have made an enquiry for Queens Park Rangers striker Loic Remy, according to Goal.com.
The report has suggested that the Blues have made a move for the French forward following the injury to Ivorian striker Didier Drogba. The same report has suggested, however, that the full extent of the veteran's injury is unknown, as the start of the season draws ever closer.
It appears, then, that Blues boss Jose Mourinho is on the lookout for a back-up striker, as his club go in search of Premier League glory next term. The Chelsea boss has already added to his forward ranks in this transfer window, having purchased Brazilian born Spanish international Diego Costa from Atletico Madrid.
Drogba, of course, has returned to the Bridge, but his injury setback seems to have opened the door for Remy to arrive at the club in this window. Fernando Torres, meanwhile, is still at Chelsea after Demba Ba and Samuel Eto'o departed the club at the end of the campaign.
Chelsea fans will certainly be excited by their new striker force, but Remy could give them yet another option in attack for the up coming season.
It remains to be seen, however, as to whether Chelsea will have any competition in the race to land the QPR ace. Remy, of course, looked set to join Chelsea's title rivals Liverpool earlier this summer, but the striker failed a medical at the Anfield outfit.
North London duo Arsenal and Tottenham have also been linked with a move for the Frenchman, but both clubs are yet to make a bid for his services. It's uncertain as to whether Newcastle United - who Remy played for on loan last season - will make a move for the striker, whilst it appears that Harry Redknapp is ready to hand the forward a lifeline at QPR.
Redknapp's side will be desperate to make an impression in England's elite division in the 2014/15, following their promotion last term. The Hoops boss has already landed the likes of Rio Ferdinand and Jordan Mutch in this market, and will now be hoping to keep hold of Remy despite interest from Chelsea.
