Newcastle United could cash in on midfielder Cheick Tiote for around £8 million, according to The Express.
The report has suggested that a number of clubs from around Europe are interested in the player's services, with Premier League outfit Arsenal heavily linked with a move for the Ivorian.
Tiote, then, could represent a different option in the middle of the park for Arsenal, as Wenger looks to improve his midfield. With the likes of Jack Wilshere, Aaron Ramsey and Co. plying their trade at the Emirates, it appears that the Arsenal chief is on the lookout for a ball-winning dominant midfielder to help out his crafty stars.
The Newcastle man has certainly proved his credentials in the Premier League in recent seasons, and would do a job sitting in front of the Gunners' back-four. Tiote's presence would allow the likes of Alexis Sanchez, Theo Walcott, Santi Cazorla and Co prosper in the attacking areas for Wenger's side.
It appears that Arsenal could now swoop in for Tiote, following recent interest in other top class central-midfielders. The same report has suggested that the Gunners have shown interest in Real Madrid's World Cup winning star Sami Khedira and Portuguese youngster William Carvalho.
However, with Tiote's price set at around £8m, it seems that he could be the more suitable option for Wenger in this transfer window. Newcastle manager Alan Pardew, however, doesn't want to lose his vice-skipper, but may have no choice if the club's valuation is met by Arsenal.
