Italian outfit Fiorentina have lined up Real Madrid star Sami Khedira as a replacement for Juan Cuadrado, according to The Daily Star.
The report has suggested that Manchester United are closing in on a £36 million deal for the Colombian ace, and Khedira could now replace him at the Stadio Artemio Franchi.
It appears, then, that Fiorentina won't be hanging around if they offload Cuadrado to the Red Devils. The Italian club's interest in Khedira, however, could spell bad news for Premier League duo Arsenal and Chelsea, who have both been linked with a move for the World Cup winner in recent time.
It's been noted that Khedira isn't a like-for-like replacement for Cuadrado for Fiorentina, but it appears that they're ready to spend the cash on the La Liga man. It remains to be seen as to whether Arsenal and Chelsea step up their interest in the dominant central-midfielder in the coming weeks, but he could still be on the move before the close of the window.
Arsenal have been credited with interest in the defensive-midfielder for some time, whilst the same report has suggested that Mourinho wants the German ace to join Chelsea at the end of the 2014/14 campaign.
However, before Fiorentina swoop for Khedira, a deal with Manchester United will have to be completed. Fans of the Red Devils will certainly be hoping the club can land the talented winger in the coming days, as the club look to improve upon last season's disastrous Premier League campaign.
Cuadrado would certainly offer United a great deal, with new boss Louis van Gaal implementing a 3-5-2 system at Old Trafford. The versatile star could play down the right hand side, and would battle the likes of Antonio Valencia and Rafael da Silva for a place in the first team.
It's unlikely that United will sign the Colombian star before the Premier League season begins this weekend. The Red Devils will be desperate to secure three points against Swansea City this Saturday lunch-time. Van Gaal will take control of United for the first time on home soil this evening against Spanish outfit Valencia.
