Manchester United v Valencia
19.30 KO (BST)
Old Trafford, England
Louis van Gaal will lead out his Manchester United side for the first time at Old Trafford on Tuesday evening, as the Red Devils host La Liga side Valencia in their final warm-up friendly ahead of Saturday's 2014/15 Premier League opener against Swansea City.
After five consecutive victories during the tour of North America, Van Gaal's men will be hoping to maintain their perfect pre-season record with another win to mark the Dutchman's debut game in front of the home supporters.
Manchester United have faced Valencia on eight previous occasions in competitive encounters, the most recent of which coming in the Champions League in December 2010, and finishing in a 1-1 draw.
That stalemate is just one of five previous draws between the two sides, with Manchester United edging out Valencia on victories by two-to-one.
Tonight's encounter promises to be another entertaining tie, as both teams and managers continue their final preparations for the start of the new domestic campaign.
Manchester United starting XI: De Gea; Jones, Smalling, Blackett; Young, Fletcher, Herrera, James; Mata; Rooney (c), Hernandez.
Subs: Amos, M Keane, Cleverley, Fellaini, Kagawa, Lingard, Januzaj
Valencia starting XI: Alves; Barragan, Vezo, Otamendi, Gaya; Parejo, J. Fuego, André Gomes; Feghouli, Alcacer, Rodrigo.
Louis van Gaal has named a relatively strong starting line-up for his first game at Old Trafford, with a mixture of youth an experience set to be deployed in the preferred 3-5-2 formation which has brought him so much success over the years.
David De Gea starts in goal and looks set to retain his place as No.1 keeper in the Van Gaal era, and has a three-man defence consisting of Phil Jones, Chris Smalling and Tyler Blackett protecting him.
Reece James is selected ahead of £27 million summer signing Luke Shaw in the left wing-back role while Ashley Young - one of the standout performers in pre-season - is rewarded with a place on the opposite flank.
The midfield consists of fit-again Darren Fletcher, Juan Mata and Spanish compatriot Ander Herrera, who will make his first start at Old Trafford.
Wayne Rooney and Javier Hernandez complete the forward line, with Van Gaal also naming a relatively experienced bench which includes Tom Cleverley, Marouane Fellaini, Shinji Kagawa and Adnan Januzaj.
