The end is in sight regarding the protracted debate as to who will be Chelsea's No.1 ‘keeper next season, as Jose Mourinho has revealed he will leave it until Sunday to tell his squad whether Petr Cech or Thibaut Courtois will be between the sticks.

Cech and Courtois

As reported by FourFourTwo The Special One confirmed that he knows who his first-choice stopper is, but won’t be letting anyone else in on the secret until the day before the Blues’ opening Premier League fixture against Burnley.

Chelsea take on their newly-promoted opponents on Monday night and yet there remains an air of strong mystery surrounding the futures of two of the most reputable players on their books. It’s been widely documented that neither Cech or Courtois will be content to act as a reserve option at Stamford Bridge, and so either man could look to force an exit if told that they’re to be sitting on the bench.

In preseason Cech has played two full-matches and one half of a game, whilst Courtois only had 45 minutes under his belt before playing the full 90 against Real Sociedad last night.

However Mourinho was also quick to rubbish talk that this was an indication of who would be handed the No.1 jersey, claiming that people shouldn’t read too much into who was used in the friendlies.

Fernando Torres exit

In other team news it’s believed that Chelsea are keen to offload Fernando Torres before the season gets underway, but the Spanish flop’s wages are proving to be a problem. The former Liverpool man earns £175k-a-week at Stamford Bridge, and doesn't want to take a huge pay cut if he does move elsewhere but, with his main suitors being the club he began his career with, Atletico Madrid, there isn't enough room for manoeuvre to make the deal possible.

Mourinho has in the past insisted that Torres is part of his plans for this season but, with Diego Costa sure to be the No.1 striker, and Didier Drogba's return having been such a hit with the fans, is there really a future for the 30-year-old in west London?

Victor Moses lifeline

His situation couldn’t be more different for Victor Moses' however, as reports yesterday appeared to draw strength from the idea that the Nigerian would be given one final chance to prove his worth at Stamford Bridge. A loan spell at Anfield last term ended with the winger having failed to prove that he was capable of cutting it at the highest level, and it was widely expected that he would depart.
