Aleksey Dmitrik of Russia was high jumping on ice in the European Championships today.
The athlete, attempting to progress in the competition, seemed to not land his spikes in the correct position at precisely the wrong time.
Subsequently, his legs gave way underneath him and he crashed into the base of the jumping landing surface in hilarious fashion.
On his third attempt in a qualifying round, with the bar at 2.15 metres, the Zurich crowd were presented with some humour amidst dull weather conditions.
Dmitrik probably didn’t find it that funny though as the fall knocked him out of the competition.
