Kobe Bryant is one of the most successful players in NBA history, but every now and then things don't quite work out for the Lakers legend.
Five NBA titles with the Los Angeles Lakers has allowed Kobe Bryant to become a legend amongst the Lakers faithful, and his love for the Lakers fans is equally as strong.
But his attempts to persuade a Hollywood star to become a Lakers fan a few years ago did not go according to plan. Star of Ray, Jamie Foxx, revealed to Lakers Nation this week that he declined Kobe Bryant's attempts to turn him into a Lakers fans.
Lakers Nation interviewed Jamie Foxx at the Harold and Carole Pump Foundation at the weekend and asked Foxx to delve into the past and talk about the time he met Kobe Bryant for the first time. Foxx, who was and still is a huge Dallas Mavericks fan, said that Bryant came behind the scenes of one of his shows before they got into a heated basketball discussion.
"Kobe hurt me. I was doing my show at the Staples Center in LA that day," Foxx explained, speaking of the time he met Kobe Bryant for the first time. "We got into it and we started arguing about basketball."
"He asked me who was my team and I told him that I supported the [Dallas] Mavericks, and he clowned me and said 'Oh J, I thought you was a winner.'
"So we clowned that night and he didn't even stay for the show. That's how committed he was to basketball, he went and started practicing right next door.
"He then text me later on and said 'one day you will choke on my fifth ring.' When he won his fifth ring I was choking a little, but I'm glad to say that a year later the Mavericks swept the NBA."
