The Premier League season kicks-off today, with Manchester United and Swansea City opening proceedings with an early kick-off at Old Trafford.
But, despite the new campaign finally being upon us, there is still plenty of speculation over potential big-money moves with just over two weeks left in the summer transfer window.
Some big names have already arrived in England, with the likes of Alexis Sanchez, Ander Herrera and Diego Costa all making huge moves to some of the country’s top teams.
History suggests that some other big deals could still go through though, and we start with a suggestion from the Red Devils chief that his squad might need some bolstering…
Manchester United manager Louis van Gaal has dropped a hint that he may still need to buy players before the end of the transfer window on September 2nd.
The Dutchman is looking to assess his team quickly at the start of the current campaign, but admits they are ‘a little below top quality’ at the present time.
However, his suggestions that a transfer can happen in 24 hours shows that he is willing to do business quickly if required.
“You can buy a player in 24 hours, believe me. That’s not a problem,” the Red Devils boss said.
