Sami Khedira appears to be closing in on a move to the Premier League as his agent prepares to travel to London to negotiate with an unnamed club, reports The Sunday Mirror.
The Germany World Cup winner has failed to save his Real Madrid career after crunch talks with Carlo Ancelotti broke down. He is now looking to seal a move away from the Bernabeu and the Premier League looks the most likely.
Agent flies in
In an attempt to force through a transfer deal, Khedira's agent will travel to London this week to hold talks with an unnamed club. There will obviously be an attempt to agree and complete a transfer deal for the 27-year-old.
However, the report fails to clarify which club the agent is due to meet with. Arsenal are the likeliest of candidates. They have been linked with Khedira for the best part of two months as Arsene Wenger continues to look for a tough tackling defensive-minded midfielder.
Chelsea are also candidates to hold a meeting with the player's representatives. Jose Mourinho holds a strong affinity towards Khedira after helping him become the player he is during his three-year spell in charge of Real Madrid.
Bayern talks already held
One concern is that following the meeting with Ancelotti, the agent's first port of call was with Bundesliga champions Bayern Munich. Having lost Javi Martinez to a seirous knee injury, Pep Guardiola is desperate to find midfield reinforcements and it would be no surprise if Khedira offered his services.
Having held talks with Allianz Arena officials, the agent will now look to see if there is any interest in meeting the player's demands in London. The most likely scenario is that the agent will talk with both the Gunners and the Blues in the upcoming week before reporting back to Real Madrid.
