Samuel Eto’o is hoping to get a last minute offer from Arsenal

Samuel Eto’o is hoping to get a last minute offer from Arsenal before the transfer window opens and is refusing to agree a deal with either Tottenham Hotspur or Liverpool to give it a chance of happening.

According to The Sun, the Cameroon star is desperate for the chance to work with Arsene Wenger and is willing to go to the 11th hour in the transfer window to give it a chance of happening.

Wenger contradiction

Arsenal’s manager has claimed that there will be no more additions to the forward line at Emirates Stadium. He is seemingly happy with Olivier Giroud Yaya Sanogo and new £32million signing Alexis Sanchez in his forward line.

However, the report claims that Arsenal were interested in Eto’o earlier this summer and that he now hopes the start to the season will convince Wenger that he needs further additions.

Reports earlier this week claimed that new Tottenham manager Mauricio Pochettino was keen to bolster his attacking line and that Spurs had held talks with the former Chelsea, Barcelona and Inter Milan star.

Anfield challenge

Liverpool are mentioned in this latest report as also being challengers for his signature and reports earlier this month claimed that the two parties were not too far from agreeing a deal.

Chelsea decided not to hand Eto’o a new deal once the short-term deal he signed with them last summer expired this year. Jose Mourinhp has signed Diego Costa from Atletico Madrid and the Spain international is expected to be first choice centre-forward for the Blues.

There is little surprise that the Stamford Bridge club did not want to hold on to the 33-year-old, as he largely failed to impress when given the opportunity under Mourinho and he will not have been on an insubstantial wage.
