Chelsea have landed themselves the best signing of the summer, according to Sky Sports pundit Alan McInally.
The former-Bayern Munich striker believes Cesc Fabregas will prove to be an 'absolute belter signing' for Jose Mourinho at Stamford Bridge. The Chelsea boss bought the former-Barcelona and Arsenal midfielder in a £30m deal earlier this summer, and Fabregas started for the Blues against Burnley tonight.
Mourinho has also brought in the likes of Diego Costa and Filipe Luis from Atletico Madrid, but McInally reckons Fabregas will prove to be the signing of the summer, not just for Chelsea but potentially for the whole Premier League.
Speaking on Sky Sports radio, McInally said: "I'm a massive fan of Cesc Fabregas, and I do think that Chelsea managing to get him is a huge coup.
"Obviously Costa coming in as well is pretty good but I think with Mourinho, this is a big season for them. There was no silverware last year and he knows he has to deliver after coming up just short.
"Costa will be a big contributor but I just think that the addition of Fabregas is an absolute belter signing by Mourinho and he could be a massive, massive player for Chelsea this season."
Goals from midfield
The £30m midfielder is expected to provide the goals from midfield that Chelsea fans had previously come to expect from Frank Lampard. But Fabregas will play slightly deeper than he did at Arsenal and Barcelona, as he'll feature alongside Nemanja Matic.
Mourinho completed all of his transfer business well before the start of the season, and insists he's unlikely to get involved as the transfer deadline nears over the next few weeks.
A few Chelsea fringe players have left the club on loan this week - Victor Moses has joined Stoke City while Josh McEachran has signed for Vitesse Arnhen in the Eredivisie for the campaign.
