Manchester United's pursuit of Real Madrid superstar Angel di Maria will go the wire, according to Spanish expert Guillem Balague.
As tweeted by the Bleacher report, Balague has revealed that Real Madrid boss Carlo Ancelotti wants the Argentine ace to stay at the Bernabeu, whilst Manchester United believe his valuaion of €65 million is too high.
It appears, then, that the saga involving Di Maria could go down to the final day of the transfer window. It may come as a surprise to some that Madrid manager Ancelotti wants to keep the Argentine in La Liga, as he has an array of attacking talent at his disposal.
As well as Di Maria, Real also have the likes of Gareth Bale, Cristiano Ronaldo and James Rodriguez plying their trade at the Bernabeu. Manchester United, on the other hand, are in desperate need of improvement.
And, there's no doubt about it, Di Maria would certainly give United another option in attack. United's wingers struggled for form last season, as the likes of Nani, Ashley Young and Antonio Valencia failed to make an impact on a consistent basis.
United do, however, have teenage Adnan Januzaj at their disposal, but Red Devils fans will be hoping the club can land the star name before the close of this transfer window, as they look to improve on last season's disastrous campaign.
Manchester United's need for major signings became even more apparent after the club got off to the worst possible start this past weekend in the Premier League. Louis van Gaal's side went down 2-1 to Swansea City on Saturday afternoon, and will be desperate to bounce back against Sunderland this coming weekend.
United fans will be hoping that at least two or three new faces arrive before the start of next month, with the club also in need of improvement in the middle of the park and in defence. The Red Devils have struggled in midfield for some time now, and are in need of added competition despite the signing of Spanish ace Ander Herrera. At the back, meanwhile, United have a lack of numbers and are in desperate need of improvement after Tyler Blackett was named in Van Gaal's first competitive starting line-up.
