Just when you started to forget that Daniel Bryan was an actual wrestler he finds himself back making headlines. But it isn't for any positive reasons.
Bryan overcame the odds to win the WWE World Heavyweight Championship at WrestleMania XXX. Since then he has been absent because of a neck injury that required surgery and had to vacate the title which was picked up by John Cena and are now belonging to Brock Lesnar after his dominating win at SummerSlam.
Tommy John Surgery
According to reports from David Shoemaker, author of “The Squared Circle: Life, Death, and Professional Wrestling,” Bryan requires another surgery that will see miss even more time out from the ring.
Bryan needs Tommy John surgery to fix his elbow. It is a surgery you really wouldn't expect a wrestler to have to undergo.
It's far more commonly associated with baseball and pitchers who have to throw hundreds of balls compared to wrestlers who just take bumps which does make this all a bit odd. Combine that with the fact this hasn't been confirmed and it's just what Shoemaker is "hearing" means it isn't gospel.
Even More Time Out
Here's what Shoemaker tweeted earlier about Bryan:
"I'm hearing Daniel Bryan needs Tommy John surgery and will be out at least 3 more months."
"(I know that last tweet sounds like the first half of a joke I'd make, but it's real.)"
"I'm assuming it's a quicker recovery than usual because he's not slinging fastballs for a living."
Pitchers would be kept out by Tommy John for pretty much a whole year so for his sake i sincerely hope he won't be out for that long. Bryan was getting the biggest pops of anyone in the WWE and it's a shame that someone at the height of their popularity would be forced to miss so much time.
