FIFA 15 unveil Eden Hazard as new cover star

Eden Hazard has been unveiled as the new EA Sports FIFA 15 cover star, alongside the one and only Lionel Messi.

Zinedine Zidane, Ronaldinho, Theirry Henry, Alessandro Del Piero and Kaka have all been used in the past, so the 23-year-old joins a very elite club.

According to EA Sports, Hazard was traded over 780,000 times and hit a top price of £2.5million coins in Ultimate Team mode on FIFA 14. Regular players of the game will know how impressive those statistics are.

Big 2013/14 season

The Belgian saw his stock rise very sharply after his incredible performances last term in the Premier League.

His stats from that season read: 35 appearances, 17 goals, 7 assists and 92 chances created for his teammates. He was also the PFA’s Young Player of the Year.

One game in particular of note was Chelsea’s 4-3 win over Sunderland at the Stadium of Light. Hazard scored two utterly sublime goals and opposing manager Gus Poyet after the game said: "I haven't come up against anyone like that.”

Can he do it again?

Jose Mourinho wanted to boost his attacking options this summer and he has done so with some aplomb. Cesc Fabregas was mesmerising against Burnley last weekend and ran the game from midfield. The vision he showed for Andre Schurrle’s goal is likely to be a goal of the season candidate.

Diego Costa looked lively and energetic up-front whilst bagging his first Chelsea goal in the process.

There might be a possibility that Hazard will be overshadowed by these two big signings. However, this could work in his favour as the pressure to perform every week will not be so vigorous.

Great years ahead

And, as a nod to both his past performances and ability for the future, FIFA have recognised the Belgian's great potential and honoured him with the cover.
