WWE: Five potential John Cena feuds

Published 1 Comments

John Cena surrendered his WWE World Heavyweight Championship to The Beast Brock Lesnar at SummerSlam in what was a dominant one-sided bout.

Brock Lesnar left John Cena with no chance of walking out with the gold, although Cena hung on multiple times eventually the damage was done and Cena was unable to kick out of the final F5.

Now that Brock Lesnar is champion, Triple H confirmed that John Cena will get his rematch in the main event of Night of Champions which will take place on September 21.

However, John Cena fans shouldn’t get too happy right now as the plan is for Lesnar to retain, however he does it remains to be seen. I highly doubt it will be another dominating performance from Brock, Cena will possibly put up a bigger fight but an interference has been teased.

So, if Brock Lesnar walks out of Night of Champions as our WWE World Heavyweight Champion, what is next for John Cena?

He’s already had his run with the championship plus he’s had a brilliant feud with Bray Wyatt; what possible options are left for John Cena?

Triple H

John Cena has always had his run ins with whoever is in charge, and right now The Authority are running things in the WWE and John Cena will always be the one to step up to the plate and lead the charge. With Cena out of the title picture; Triple H looks to be the biggest name available for Cena if he is to remain in a big name feud. If the company want Cena to work a new programme with someone younger then there are options available.

With a Triple H and Roman Reigns bout looming, it remains doubtful that John Cena will get his turn any time soon.

Roman Reigns

If Roman Reigns is being groomed for a WWE World Heavyweight Championship run starting at WrestleMania 31 then what better way than to work a programme with the 15-time World Champion? The crowd will be split for the two and this will be a huge test for Roman Reigns on the big stage, against the number one superstar in the WWE. There have been a number of teases for a feud between both men, during Money in the Bank and Payback. Even though this feud won’t be for titles it will still allow Roman Reigns to get another massive feud under his belt after his current feud with Randy Orton ends.

Now that The Animal has finished up his media duties for the very successful Guardians of the Galaxy; Batista could be set for another stint in the WWE. The manner in which Batista left raises questions on what role Batista will play, he could still reform Evolution with Triple H and Randy Orton; or he could return without having The Authority on his side. Either way John Cena and Batista could battle it out once again; there’s a chance that Batista could receive a positive reaction due to the success he has had as Drax The Destroyer, again it wouldn’t be a very long feud but certainly one which would allow the two to compete at a few pay-per-views.

Seth Rollins

Rollins would be one of two choices I’d like to see come to fruition. Now that Rollins has finished up with Dean Ambrose after hitting a vicious Curb Stomp through cinder blocks; Seth Rollins needs to continue in a big feud to remain a massive threat to the WWE World Heavyweight Champion. At the same time, he needs to be in a feud which will allow him to showcase his skills against a top talent in the main event picture.

John Cena would be the perfect feud, it would allow Cena to get into the ring with someone who can genuinely work inside the ring and at the same time allow Rollins to get into a big feud with his briefcase playing an important role.

This is the other choice I’d like to see happen. Rusev is unfortunate that external events have resulted in his character and Lane to tone their gimmick down a little. Rusev has dominated almost everyone he has stepped into the ring with and was in an entertaining feud with Jack Swagger as well. It’s not clear whether Rusev and Mark Henry will be in a feud but if they aren’t then Rusev needs John Cena to solidify himself as a top star.

This feud can also work in John Cena’s favour, if Rusev is being built as this force that just cannot be beaten then John Cena – as always – will be the man to stop Rusev in what could be a very entertaining match and an even better feud; especially when you throw Lana into the mix who is one of the best heels in the business today.

WWE fans – who do you think should feud with John Cena after his match with Brock Lesnar? Let us know in the comments section below.
