Premier League side Chelsea are interested in signing AS Roma midfielder Mattia Destro, but Fernando Torres will not be involved in any potential deal, according to the Italian's agent.
Reports broke this morning suggesting Chelsea were finally ready to part ways with Torres, who has flopped at Stamford Bridge since completing his shock £50 million move from Liverpool, but Destro's agent has now confirmed that the reports are not true.
However, Renzo Contratto, the agent in question, has admitted that there is interest from the Premier League side in his client, but nothing formal has been offered as of yet.
Despite already signing Diego Costa from Atletico Madrid, and re-signing Didier Drogba on a free transfer, Jose Mourinho is still keen on adding strength to his attack, and Destro could be the next arrival at Stamford Bridge, becoming the club's fifth signing this summer.
After duo Samuel Eto'o and Demba Ba left the club, it was reported that Torres would follow suit, but Mourinho confirmed at the end of last season that the Spaniard is still in his plans, much to the shock of many Chelsea fans.
Spanish side Atletico Madrid have since been interested in Torres, but nothing formal has been offered and the striker has remained at Stamford Bridge.
Torres departure rubished
Earlier today it was suggested that Torres could finally be on his way out of the club, being used as part of a swap-deal taking place with Roma, but Contratto has rubbished those reports, despite admitting interest is there.
"It's true that Chelsea are interested in Mattia," he said.
"But the reports regarding a swap deal have no foundation, it's all speculation."
Tottenham Hotspur have also shown interest in Destro so far this summer, but no formal offers have been made from the north London outfit. Destro finished as Roma's top goalscorer last season, netting 13 goals.
