Manchester United have made an approach for Cruzeiro starlet Lucas Silva, the Brazilian midfielder who has also been linked with Chelsea and Tottenham Hotspur.
The Daily Mail carries quotes from the 21-year-old's agent Luis Rocha, who confirmed that the Premier League giants have been in contact with him to sound out the possibility of a transfer.
Red Devils boss Louis van Gaal is known to be in the market for midfield reinforcements at Old Trafford and has been heavily linked with high-profile stars like Sami Khedira and Arturo Vidal.
But, as negotiations for the Real Madrid and Juventus stars continue to stall, it seems that Manchester United have now turned attention to the South American youngster.
"There are not many details," explained Rocha in an interview with Super Esportes. "I can confirm that I was approached by people linked to Manchester United and Inter Milan.
"There is official proposal. We are waiting."
Silva has made 38 appearances for Cruzeiro since making his senior breakthrough in 2012, going on to establish himself as an important first-team star at Estadio Mineirao under the guidance of head coach Marcelo Oliveira.
He's also attracted admiring glances from Blues boss Jose Mourinho, with the Daily Star suggesting that all that was keeping them from an attempt to lure the £12 million-rated player to Stamford Bridge was the fact he might struggle to obtain a work permit.
However, the fact that Silva has been capped at every level of youth international football means he could be regarded as a "special talent" which could help FIFA grant his desire to move to the Premier League.
At home in the Premier League
Chelsea have a growing contingent of Brazilian stars in west London with Oscar, Ramires, Willian and the recently signed Filipe Luis all currently involved in Mourinho's first-team.
The Brazil U21 international would likely feel at home in the capital, but it seems that Manchester is more likely to be his next destination given the fact that Red Devils officials have already held talks with Silva's agent.
Mauricio Pochettino has been mooted as an admirer of Silva as well, however - like Chelsea - Spurs are yet to make a formal attempt to lure the player to White Hart Lane.
Interest in Silva isn't exclusive to England's top-flight, with a host of other top European clubs also believed to be monitoring his situation closely.
Atletico Madrid and Barcelona have both been keeping tabs on the talented individual too, and the prospect of moving to La Liga might also appeal to the defensive midfielder.
