Manchester United have offered an unnamed player in their latest bid to sign Juventus midfielder Arturo Vidal, reports The Daily Star.
The Chilean midfielder has been linked with a move to Old Trafford all summer but a deal appeared to be off the table after Manchester United failed to agree a deal with Juventus.
However, with the transfer window open for just one more week, Louis van Gaal is making a big push for world-class additions and it is believed he has no offered £32 million plus a mystery star in exchange.
The report claims that the player is neither Javier Hernandez of Danny Welbeck, both of whom have been linked with a move to Turin in recent times. Nani - another Juventus target - has also left Old Trafford to join Sporting Lisbon temporarily.
That leaves the identity of the new player as a mystery although there are several candidates. Shinji Kagawa has been linked with a move away from Old Trafford and could be sacrificed if Angel di Maria completes his proposed move from Real Madrid.
Wilfried Zaha is also out in the cold, although it is unlikely the young winger would agree to a move outside the Premier League. Marouane Fellaini has also been linked with a move away from Old Trafford and would be an almost like-for-like swap for Juventus.
Vidal not leaving
Manchester United's offer could be doomed to failure as Juventus chief Giuseppe Marotta recently suggested the Chilean would not be allowed to leave Juventus so late into the transfer market.
He is quoted by the same report as saying: "We have no ongoing negotiations, nor have had requests the player to leave," he said.
"Vidal has always said he wanted to stay here and we are more than happy to keep him."
