Galatasaray are being linked with a shock move for Manchester United forward Danny Welbeck, according to reports.
TalkSPORT cites claims in Turkish newspaper AMK when claiming that new boss Cesare Prandelli wants to add the England international to his squad, but will need to meet a valuation in the region of £15million.
Gala aren’t the only club interested in the 23-year-old forward however, with Premier League rivals Arsenal and Tottenham Hotspur also credited with an interest.
Arsene Wenger is light of attacking options at the Emirates Stadium, with Olivier Giroud, Yaya Sanogo and Joel Campbell the strikers currently available to the Gunners’ manager.
Alexis Sanchez could also lead the line for Arsenal, but like Welbeck has the ability to play in wider areas when required.
The radio station also claims that the Red Devils would prefer to not sell to a Premier League rival like the Gunners, which makes Galatasaray a great option for the 2012/13 champions.
Van Gaal's big task
Louis van Gaal has been tasked with bringing the glory days back to Manchester United after last season’s disappointment under David Moyes, but it’s been a difficult start with defeat at Old Trafford and a draw in Wales.
Having signed Luke Shaw and Ander Herrer for big money, as well as Marcos Rojo, the Dutchman has shown that he’s ready to shake-up his squad - and the imminent arrival of Angel di Maria will do that even further for the Red Devils.
However, an influx of new players means the future isn’t necessarily bright for some players currently on the fringes of the Manchester United first team - including Welbeck.
Were he to make the move to Galatasaray, he’d join the likes of Wesley Sneijder and Burak Yilmaz; but it’s unclear if he’d be willing to leave his homeland for Turkey at this stage.
Few 'home' players are willing to take the leap from Premier League to life abroad, and that's the big decision that Welbeck will have to make if the opportunity arises.
