Rams' Chris Long with perfect response to ESPN reporting Michael Sam's showering habits

Published 3 Comments

The world of sport is certainly intrigued about the story of Michael Sam trying to make it in the NFL but it seems ESPN may be rubbing up the wrong people with their coverage of the athlete.

Michael Sam became the first openly gay player in NFL history and his story thus far has been intensely followed, but all reports so far have suggested that Sam has been a fantastic fit in the St. Louis Rams' locker room.

The sports network ESPN decided to report on the showering habits of the defensive end and it has received some criticism for their actions.

Final Cuts

The final cuts to NFL rosters are drawing ever nearer and Michael Sam has been very impressive in pre-season so far and has a real shot of making the final 53-man squad.

With the final evaluations of player's being made, the defensive end and 7th round draft pick will receive the an intense amount of scrutiny as we head to the regular season with or without him.

Showering habits

On Tuesday, ESPN's Josina Anderson gave a report from Rams training camp and one of the central subjects was surrounding the showering habits of Michael Sam.

She claimed that an unnamed defensive player had stated that Sam was making a conceited effort to delay his shower and wait in order to "not make his teammates feel uncomfortable."

The player also said that his actions felt like the player was "respecting our space".

Chris Long's response

This specific report from ESPN certainly ticked off star defensive end Chris Long of the Rams, he took to Twitter immediately to let ESPN know just how ridiculous their coverage had become.

He simply tweeted;

"Dear ESPN,

Everyone but you is over it."

The Rams have had no problem with Sam's impact on their team, all his given them is his determined and positive play on the field.
