Premier League giants Arsenal have turned their attention to Wolfsburg midfielder Luiz Gustavo as Arsene Wenger wants to strengthen his midfield at Emirates Stadium.
According to Goal.com, the Arsenal manager sent scouts to watch the Brazilian in action against Bayern Munich on Saturday.
Sami Khedira staying put at Real
With the prospect of landing Sami Khedira becoming more and more infeasible day-by-day and only less than a week till the transfer window shuts, Wenger doesn’t want to make it late to sign a quality midfielder.
BBC Sport quoted Real Madrid manager Carlo Ancelotti, ”The issue with Khedira has been resolved. He’s staying and we’re happy that’s the case.”
Podolski on the move
Meanwhile, Lukas Podolski is set to be on his way out of Arsenal this summer and reportedly Wolfsburg are interested to bring the German back to Bundesliga.
The Gunners might use Podolski as bait and offer a cash plus player deal in order to lure the Brazilian to the British capital, as reported by the Daly Mirror.
Luiz Gustavo was on Arsenal radar last summer too, but the Brazilian wanted to be a regular starter which Wenger couldn’t guarantee.
The injury to Mikel Arteta and the form of Mathieu Flamini has been a concern for Wenger and he now contemplates on bringing in Gustavo with the assurance he wants.
Gustavo will be success at The Gunners
The 27-year old has a passing success rate of 79.9% in Bundesliga with passing, tackling and long shots being his key strengths, according to WhoScored.com.
The former Bavarian was a member of the Brazilian squad in the World Cup in his hometown which ended on a disastrous note and it is no doubt Gustavo wants to make amends for it with his performances for his club,be it Wolfsburg or Arsenal in the 2014-15 season.
