Premier League giants,Manchester United have agreed on a transfer fee of £59.7million with Real Madrid for the services of Angel Di Maria.

The signing of the Argentine will serve as the perfect impetus to the squad after beginning the season with a defeat in the hands of Swansea at home and a draw against Sunderland last weekend.

Real Madrid manager Carlo Ancelotti revealed last week that Di Maria refused to talk over a new contract at Santiago Bernabeu and asked the club for a transfer.

Di Maria arrived at Manchester on Monday

Sky Sports reports that Di Maria arrived at Real Madrid’s training on the eve of their league campaign to bid goodbye to his teammates and flew in late from Spain on Monday night.

The 26-year-old will undergo a medical on Tuesday before agreeing personal terms at Old Trafford.

The transfer fee will surpass the British record fee set by Fernando Torres’ switch to Chelsea from Liverpool in 2011,when The Blues paid £50million to lure him to Stamford Bridge.

Most Expensive player in Premier League

Louis van Gaal is set to offer Di Maria a wage package which would eclipse Wayne Rooney’s €360,000-per-week deal apart from shelling out €6million signing-on-fee and additional bonuses,as reported by

It is expected he will make his debut on Saturday against Burnley in the Premier League.

The winger has provided the most key passes(91) last season than any other player and also records 1.3 tackles and 0.6 interceptions per game. With crossing, long shots and set-pieces being his main attributes,Di Maria would bring pace and depth to The Red Devils that has been lacking.

The Independent quoted former Manchester United full-back,Gary Neville,”He(Di Maria) can run and United haven’t got any pace in wide areas. It is incredible.”

Although Van Gaal refrained from saying anything before the official announcement by the club regarding the arrival. He said,”I cannot say anything about transfers, you have to understand that. When a transfer has been finished, then we can say something. But now you have to wait and see.”

More signings to follow

The Red Devils are monitoring Juventus’ Arturo Vidal and is believed they will have one last go before the transfer window slams shut, while Ajax’s Daley Blind and AC Milan’s Nigel De Jong are still in radar,as per The Guardian.

The arrival of Angel Di Maria are sure signs of optimism around Old Trafford as Van Gaal’s men set out on bringing back the glory days at Manchester United.
