Rob Van Dam's latest WWE stint is over

Speculation surrounding Rob Van Dam's WWE departure has finally been confirmed as it was revealed that RVD wrestled his last match under his current contract at last night's Smackdown tapings.

Mr Monday Night returned the evening after Wrestlemania after many thought he would emerge victorious from the Andre the Giant Memorial Battle Royale but instead he made his return the night after the biggest event of the year to make the Raw episode after Wrestlemania one of the biggest in history.

Van Dam release

Since his return he has been a steady mid-carder and has even attempted to win numerous titles, but following Summerslam and his victory over Cesaro on the kick-off show, it seemed he had just been finishing up his time and waiting for his official release.

Van Dam usually only works 90 days each time he returns but he continued it a little longer this year and now it is understood that he could be doing the same again next year.

Smackdown's tapings go out on Friday and it seems this time it fell to Seth Rollins to take Van Dam out of action in a storyline way of seeing him walk off of WWE TV.

Barrett comeback

Whilst Van Dam is on his way out of the exit door, it seems someone else is on his way back, with Bad News Barrett finally being given a date for his return. The former intercontinental champion had to rescind his title just before Battleground and The Miz was then crowned following a battle royale.

Since then the title has been passed to Dolph Ziggler and it would seem that Barrett will be looking for his rematch once he returns.

WWE go on their European Tour in November and are hoping that the British wrestler will be fit to return to his native country even though doctors have cleared him to wrestle from December.

Chris Jericho is also another name who is on his way out of WWE as his current contract runs out at Night of Champions on September 21st. Chris is set to face Bray Wyatt again at the pay-per-view and then should bow out for another few months whilst he goes on tour with band Fozzy.

Jericho missed Raw and Smackdown tapings this week because he was on vacation, he will be back on WWE TV next week to build up his next match with "the eater of worlds" as will many of the missing superstars from this week's shows.
