Manchester United sent scouts to watch Norwegian starlet Martin Odegaard on Wednesday as the youngster made his international debut, reports The Telegraph.
Odegaard, who is just 15-years-old, has been likened to Barcelona superstar Lionel Messi in recent time as he continues his incredible rise up the footballing ladder.
And now it appears that the youngster, who is currently plying his trade at Norwegian outfit Stromsgodset, could be on his way to the Premier League before his 16th birthday. However, if Manchester United are going to secure the youngster's services, then they may have a major battle on their hands.
Some of Europe's elite clubs have been linked with a move for the player's signature, with the likes of Barcelona and Juventus reportedly interested. It appears, though, that scouts of the Red Devils will watch the starlet once again next week as he prepares to take on England at Wembley.
Odegaard already had a trial at Old Trafford in December, and it remains to be seen as to whether the club step up their interest in the talented prospect over the coming weeks.
For now though, Manchester United boss Louis van Gaal will be concentrating on this weekend's Premier League clash with Burnley. The Red Devils travel to the Premier League new-boys without a win in their opening two fixtures, and will be desperate to make amends this weekend.
United hit an all time low against the MK Dons this past week as they were thumped 4-0 by the League One outfit, however the signing of Argentine superstar Angel di Maria may have raised spirits at the Theatre of Dreams.
The Argentine, who has been handed the club's famous No.7 shirt, could make his debut for the club at Turf Moor, as Van Gaal attempts to claim his first competitive win as manager of Manchester United.
