Chelsea boss Jose Mourinho has admitted that Fernando Torres may want a new life away from Stamford Bridge.
This has been reported by Goal.com, who have suggested that the Spanish forward is closing in on a move to Italian giants AC Milan.
Mourinho has, however, insisted that he likes Torres, and has revealed that the player hasn't asked him to leave the Bridge ahead of Monday's transfer deadline.
Speaking to reporters, Mourinho said: "If he wants to leave - and I have not heard that from him - any possibility would be analysed.
"If he wants to leave, I believe it's because he wants to try a new life, possibly a new league.
"He didn't speak with me. We need three strikers to face the season. He is one of them. I like him."
It appears, then, that Mourinho is uncertain as to whether Torres will remain at the club, but is certainly determined to have three striker options throughout the course of the season.
Along with Torres, the Blues boss also has the likes of Diego Costa and Didier Drogba at his disposal. Costa was signed earlier on in this transfer window from La Liga champions Atletico Madrid, whilst Drogba was re-signed on a player-coach deal by the the 'Special One'.
If Torres does leave the club before the deadline, then the Spaniard will be the fourth striker to have left the Bridge since the end of last season. Demba Ba departed the club for Turkish outfit Besiktas, whilst Romelu Lukaku and Samuel Eto'o both left for Premier League club Everton.
Mourinho, then, will be short of options in attack if Torres is sold, with Drogba set to play a minimal role this season. Costa, on the other hand, looks set to be the club's No.1 striker, but the Blues may have to re-enter the market to add competition to their front line in the coming days.
Torres, in fact, could yet play for the Blues this weekend, as they go in search of three points against Everton. Chelsea will be looking to continue their fine start to the season after picking up maximum points from their opening two league fixtures.
They will, however, have to battle former players Eto'o and Lukaku, who will both be out to prove a point against their former boss. The Blues lost at Goodison Park 1-0 in the early stages of last season, so will be hoping to take revenge against Roberto Martinez's side this time around.
