Ajax star Daley Blind was spotted in Manchester this morning with it being suggested that Manchester United are closing in on a £14 million deal to bring him to Old Trafford.

This has been reported by The Mirror, who have revealed that Blind was leaving The Lowry Hotel in Salford earlier this morning after undergoing a medical at the club last night.

It appears, then, that Manchester United boss Louis van Gaal and Blind are going to be reunited with each other at Old Trafford. Blind worked under Van Gaal for the Dutch national team, as the Netherlands managed a third placed finish at this summer's World Cup.

If United do complete the signing of Blind, then the versatile star will be the first Dutch player to follow Van Gaal to the Theatre of Dreams since his appointment.

United in need

Manchester United fans will certainly be hoping the club complete the deal for the Dutch ace before tomorrow's deadline, with the club in serious need of improvement in the middle of the park.

The likes of Tom Cleverley, Marouane Fellaini and Co. have all struggled in midfield in recent time, and Blind could help in that department as well as the defensive areas of the pitch.
