Manchester United have agreed a loan deal with Monaco for Colombian striker Radamel Falcao.

This has been reported by BBC Sport, who have suggested that the highly rated forward has signed for the club on a one-year temporary deal.

Shock deal

This reported deal will certainly come as a major surprise for Manchester United fans, with the club seemingly in desperate need of improvement in the middle of the park and defence. The Red Devils already have an array of talent in their attacking line, with the likes of Wayne Rooney, Robin van Persie, Juan Mata and Angel di Maira already at Old Trafford.

However, with doubts over the futures of Javier Hernandez and Danny Welbeck, it appears that Manchester United boss Louis van Gaal wants to strengthen his forward line. United's Dutch coach may also be worried about the fitness of star striker Robin van Persie, with suggestions that the forward will have to undergo knee surgery.

Falcao, then, should join Daly Blind to Old Trafford on this transfer deadline day, as the Red Devils' spending looks set to go over the £150 million mark.

Blow

This will certainly come as a major blow to the likes of Arsenal and Manchester City, who were previously linked with a move for the superstar in this transfer window.

North London outfit Arsenal are certainly in need of improvement in their attacking line after Olivier Giroud picked up a long term injury. Manchester City, meanwhile, were tipped to land the Colombian, with the future of Alvaro Negredo seemingly uncertain.

It's Manchester United, though, who have agreed to sign the superstar, as the club goes in search of improvement under the new regime at Old Trafford.
