Arsenal could make a £40 million transfer deadline day move for German star Marco Reus, according to The Express.
The report has suggested that Bundesliga outfit Borussia Dortmund could be willing to let Reus depart the club after they secured the signing of Shinji Kagawa from Manchester United.
Do Arsenal need Reus?
Arsenal fans will certainly be hoping the club land and out-and-out striker before the close of the transfer window tonight. A potential deal for Reus, then, would come as a surprise to the Gunners faithful.
This report, however, has suggested that Arsene Wenger could use the versatile ace as a striker. Reus, of course, has featured out-wide and in the No.10 position for the Bundesliga outfit over recent years, and would give Arsenal yet another option in their forward line.
The Gunners already have a number of world class stars in the attacking area of the pitch, with the likes of Aaron Ramsey, Theo Walcott, Alexis Sanchez and Co. all plying their trade at the Emirates. If a deal for Reus is done, then Arsenal would have to pull the deal off before 5pm today when the German transfer window closes.
Dortmund fans will certainly be excited by the arrival of Shinji Kagawa from Manchester United. The Japanese playmaker, who starred at the Bundesliga outfit before moving to the Theatre of Dreams in 2012, struggled at Old Trafford, but will be hoping to find his best form once again in the Bundesliga.
It remains to be seen, however, as to whether Kagawa teams up with Reus for the 2014/15 season, with Gunners fans hoping for one more big name to sign for the club before the close of the window.
Arsenal and Dortmund will come up against each other in this season's Champions League, but who will Reus be playing for?
