Balotelli makes his debut

Liverpool’s new singing Mario Balotelli made his first Premier League appearance for the club and impressed on his debut.

The Italian could have got his Liverpool career off to a dream start but his header in the second minute was saved by Hugo Lloris.

The Italian continued to impress throughout the game providing the flare and skill that Liverpool lost in selling Luis Suarez.

However his first goal for the Reds was not to come despite some good opportunities falling his way.

Sterling impresses

Raheem Sterling looked very lively for Liverpool throughout the game. Sterling grabbed the opening goal after just eight minutes. This was after Sturridge played in Jordan Henderson who slid the ball across the face of the goal for Sterling to convert at close range.

Sterling continued to be lively in the second half and could have got himself a second goal. However he was only able to shoot weekly straight at Lloris after passing several Spurs defenders in the box after an impressive run.

Liverpool take control

Steven Gerrard converted a penalty won by Joe Allen early on in the second half to put Liverpool 2-0 up and in control.

The third goal came courtesy of Alberto Moreno, Liverpool’s new full-back. After the Spaniard won the ball just behind the half way line, he continued an impressive run into the Spurs box and managed to squeeze the ball past Lloris.

The win brings Liverpool up to 5th in the Premier League table after two wins out of three games.
