WWE Hall of Famer Jake 'the snake' Roberts remains in hospital as of Monday but the latest reports from his bedside have revealed positive news.
His friend Sinn Bodhi, who was amongst the first to confirm the news that the former WWF/WWE superstar had been taken to hospital late last week, gave an update Monday via his official Facebook page:
"UPDATE on Jake the Snake Roberts: Today Jake underwent a Bronchoscopy... An evasive surgery to remove flem etc trapped in his lungs... He is breathing better but still on ventilator.
In the moments of Jake being awake from sedation today he was telling jokes & messing with nurses! That is a good sign!!! That's Jake being Jake! Tomorrow or next day docs will give Jake oxygen tests to see how well he can breath without ventilator and proceed from there... #GetBetterJake
Rushed to hospital
'The Snake' was rushed to hospital last Thursday with original reports stating that he had fallen unconscious while waiting for a flight to Las Vegas to take off.
It now appears however that Roberts, suffering breathing difficulty and a tightening chest, alerted cabin crew who arranged for an ambulance to take him to a near by hospital.
What is clear though is that Jake 'The Snake' has been diagnosed with double pneumonia for which he has since been undergoing "aggressive" treatment. And as medical staff continue to carry out tests on Roberts the wrestler was moved to a hospital specializing in that area over the weekend.
The star, who made his name during the late 1980s and 1990s, is also believed to be suffering from a brain abnormality with his attorney, and close friend, Kyle P. Magee releasing a statement on the situation which can be read in full here.
The WWE community has come together in support of Roberts since the news, with his long-time friend Diamond Dallas Page visiting the 2014 WWE Hall of Famer in his hospital bed.
As mentioned in a previous article Roberts and the WWE had rekindled their relationship having settled long-standing differences in recent times.
And with news that Jake 'The Snake' was responding well to cancer treatment earlier this year the news of his most recent health issues was met with great sadness from those involved in the organization and its fan base.
It is great to hear that Roberts is joking around with nurses when awake but as alluded to by Bodhi there are still some very important tests, and days, to come for the wrestling legend.
