Under Armour made serious efforts to break into the basketball shoe market by going after the NBA's Most Valuable player but after a valiant attempt, Kevin Durant decided to stay with Nike.
Halle Berry over Under Armour
Durant had been offered an incredible $265 million over 10 years which forced the hand of Nike, the global sport company would have to match in order to keep the Oklahoma City superstar and unfortunately for Under Armour, they did just that.
Now Under Armour do have some impressive basketball athletes signed with them to boast about, they have rising star Stephen Curry under contract along with Brandon Jennings and Kemba Walker but there failure at landing Durant has allowed the teasing to begin.
Andre Iguodala landed the first blow against Under Armour, he didn't shy away from stating the actuality of the chances that the company had of signing Durant.
Kent Bazemore who is currently with the Los Angeles Lakers and is also an endorser of Under Armour shot a tweet out to Kevin Durant after his turned the company down, he said: "Thanks for even considering @KDTrey5"
However it didn't take long before Nike athlete Andre Iguodala responded to Bazemore and in very humorous fashion, he tweeted: "@24Bazemore I had a better shot at Halle berry!"
Even Iguodala can admit that his chances with Berry are slim-to-none, so he shows how far off he believes Under Armour were from prizing Durant away from Nike.
Now Durant has officially signed his new deal until 2024 and the small forward was certainly overjoyed once the deal was inked, he tweeted out saying: "Excited and humbled to sign back with the swoosh!"
He also received some big support from around the NBA, including the game's most high profile superstar, LeBron James, joining in on the congratulations.
'The King' messaged KD simply saying: "Happy to have the homie @KDTrey5 stayin with the @Nike @nikebasketball family! Congrats my brother! Like Dj Khalid would say "We The Best"!!"
