In today's top US sports news, Houston Texans have announced their biggest deal of the summer.

After months of negotiations, the Texans and star defensive end J.J. Watt have agreed a new six-year contract extension.

Rich man

According to reports, Watt's contract is believed to include incentives that could take the value of the deal up to 100 million dollars.

Watt is guaranteed 51.8 million dollars and the deal will run until the end of the 2021 NFL season.

Is he really worth it?

I know what you're thinking. Is he worth it? Well we are talking about Watt becoming the top paid defender in history, but it's hard to argue with his stats.

In only three seasons in the NFL, Watt has managed to accumulate 36.5 sacks, picking up the NFL defensive MVP award in 2012 in the process.

Granted it's a gamble giving one player so much money in a salary cap league, but in Watt's case, he's definitely worth the price.

That's all for today, check back tomorrow for more.
