Manchester United's deadline day deal to bring Colombian striker Radamel Falcao to Old Trafford shocked the world of football yesterday. And, ever since the news broke that the Red Devils had completed the season long loan deal for the Monaco forward, football lovers have been trying to guess just how Louis van Gaal will accommodate his star studded forward line.
With Falcao signed, the Red Devils possess one of the greatest attacking lines in world football, which includes the likes of Wayne Rooney, Robin van Persie, Juan Mata, Angel di Maria and Adnan Januzaj.
Players will miss out
There's no doubt about it, with Falcao and Di Maria now on board at Old Trafford, there will be high profile names to miss out on Louis van Gaal's team sheet throughout this season. If he continues with the 3-5-2 formation, then only three or four of United's big hitters can start games.
Of course, Di Maria, Rooney, Mata or even Januzaj could star in the middle of the park, but Van Gaal will have to get the balance right at Old Trafford after a nightmare start to the season which has seen the club pick up just two points from their opening three fixtures.
So, then, with United next in action against QPR on September 14, who should be worried about their starting place?
Falcao and Di Maria - two of the best players in world football - will surely slot straight into the Manchester United team. Rooney, who was only announced as the club's captain a few short weeks ago, will surely feature on a consistent basis under Louis van Gaal.
That leaves Van Persie, Mata and Januzaj battling it out for regular football at the Theatre of Dreams. On his day, Van Persie is still one of the world's best strikers, and will surely alternate with the likes of Falcao and Rooney. Van Gaal may even play the three of them in certain games.
Mata, meanwhile, who in January was the club's most expensive player, will have to prove himself all over again or risk facing a similar situation to one that finally ended his Chelsea career.
And many will wonder just where Januzaj will fit in amongst all these superstars.
Januzaj will improve
Having entered the first team scene in fine fashion under David Moyes last term, Januzaj quickly became a fans' favourite at Old Trafford. As United have struggled for an identity, the Belgian international hasn't gone into hiding like some of his teammates.
The fact he was handed the No.11 shirt made famous by Ryan Giggs just proves the high hopes those at Old Trafford have for him. And, while many will see Manchester United's crazy summer spending as bad news for the youngster, he should be excited by those around him.
With Giggs as his coach and Di Maria as his teammate, Januzaj really will be learning from the best? What can go wrong? Of course opportunities will be limited and he will not play every match.
But, Van Gaal will be well aware that he has a talented player on his hands, and will utilise him when necessary. Over the last year, Januzaj has proven himself at a team that has struggled for confidence and failed to take control of football matches, so if his team start firing then he will get even better.
Falcao & Di Maria excitement
And, there's no doubt about it, with Falcao now at Manchester United, the team will start to find an identity again. All of a sudden, with Di Maria also at the club, the Red Devils have pace and power when going forward again.
On paper, Mata, Rooney and Van Persie are great, but the combination of Januzaj, Di Maria and Falcao could be even better. On the break, with Januzaj and Di Maria either side, the Red Devils could prove unstoppable at times.
In the big games, there's no reason why Van Gaal shouldn't go with the three to stun the likes of Manchester City, Chelsea and Co. by turning defence into attack.
In Falcao, Januzaj will have a player who will always be waiting in the box ready to fire home. The Colombian superstar is tremendous in the air; Januzaj, then, will have the opportunity to put in crosses for the striker to get on the end of, and the combination could prove deadly.
There will be times when all of United's stars are utilised and Januzaj will get his opportunity. Van Gaal has enough big game experience to know when he should chop and change his team, and he now has the options to mix things up.
Last season, as United struggled, there was great pressure on Januzaj despite his age. Now, with the sensational talent on show, Januzaj can start to really enjoy playing for Manchester United, which could ultimately prove extremely rewarding for both the club and player.
