England take on Norway at Wembley tonight. The game will act as a benchmark for the future England squad, one that has just been through a rather bleak period of form.
The biggest thing to note about the England squad is that it will be completely different from the World Cup side we saw flop.
Rooney to captain England
Newly-elected skipper, Wayne Rooney, will be leading the side out of the tunnel tonight for the first time in his international career.
This is a huge step for the striker who will now have to fill the shoes of former legend Steven Gerrard.
Roy Hodgson strongly believes that Rooney is the way forward, despite stating that he could be left out of the squad entirely if his form does not improve at club level.
Youngsters set to take centre stage
England will also be panicking due to their loss experienced midfield players.
Frank Lampard and Steven Gerrard both hold over 100 caps for England, their abilities and experience were what carried English hopes and reassured the younger players.
However, the two have both retired from international football leading the way for young players to have to opportunity to fill their shoes.
This doesn’t stop fans being sceptical, but maybe that’s what England need after players have admitted there is too much weight on their shoulders.
So, as everyone is wondering, what do we expect the starting 11 to look like?
Predicted team line-up
Hart, Stones, Jones, Cahill, Baines, Chamberlain, Henderson, Wilshere, Sterling, Rooney (c), Sturridge.
