New Manchester United signing Radamel Falcao was deserving of his move to Old Trafford, according to his international team mate James Rodriguez.
Rodriguez enjoyed his own big money transfer away from Monaco this summer, moving to Real Madrid for €80 million from the French principality after a stellar World Cup in Brazil.
And now his international and former club team-mate Falcao has secured a switch away from the Stade Louis II himself, joining United on a mega-money loan deal on transfer deadline day.
Rodriguez was delighted for the striker, saying to reporters at Colombia's training base: "I am happy for (Radamel) Falcao, because he deserves to join a club like Manchester United.
"I hope he keeps on scoring goals, and has much success there."
The Colombian playmaker also spoke about facing Brazil just two months after they knocked his homeland out of the World Cup, stating: "Playing Brazil is something else. I think we must move on from our World Cup quarter final loss, it was sad, but now we must focus on winning, as we always have done."
Rodriguez was a hit at Monaco in his only season at the club, after joining in a €70 million double deal with Joao Moutinho from Portuguese champions Porto. Last term he managed seven goals and set up a further 11, as the club finished second in their first season back in the French top flight.
Falcao had one campaign at Monaco too, after joining the mega-rich outfit for €60 million from Atletico Madrid, but was less of a hit than his compatriot. El Tigre scored 11 goals in 19 games, but tore his anterior cruciate ligament in January, ruling him out of the rest of the season, as well as the World Cup in 2014.
