So today we finally know the full list of players who’ll be playing in this year’s Ryder Cup - after US Captain Tom Watson announced his Captain’s picks at a press conference in New York. Keegan Bradley and Webb Simpson return after playing last time out, whilst Hunter Mahan is back in the fold after missing out at Medinah.

KEEGAN BRADLEY "The golf course (Gleneagles) is very much designed for the player that can smash it over bunkers, a lot of holes with driver, there are going to be a lot of birdies being made, a lot of drivable par fours, reachable par 5's so there's an advantage there for somebody that can hit it high and far. We've got a lot of those players on this American team. So I think this is a very strong team from top to bottom and the other two picks are going to compliment everybody a lot.'

HUNTER MAHAN "Obviously a huge timely win (at the Barclays). The game is coming around. I felt pretty good from the British on and played well at Bridgestone and played well at the PGA. So I felt things were right there for some reason going into Ridgewood - I had this calm over me. I had this great confidence. I felt fantastic about my game, I felt rested and went out there and played well.”

WEBB SIMPSON “Two years has gone by very quickly. I remember all my matches hole by hole like they were yesterday. So I'm eager to get back in the mix and take back the Ryder Cup."

So with three rookies already on the American side, Watson opted for those with previous Ryder Cup pedigree to complete his team.

TOM WATSON "Experience was a big factor. All three players have either an even record or a winning record at the Ryder Cup. Those positive thoughts about playing on the Ryder Cup, they go along way. Webb is 2-2, Hunter and Keegan are better better than 50/50 and I think that's a very positive thing for them to go in and play.

Well there we have it, we now know the full US and European teams, and all that’s left to do is wait until competition starts in just a few weeks’ time. We’ll back tomorrow when we’ll look ahead to this weekend’s action, in the meantime you can check out our brand new website: and you can find us on Facebook, Twitter and Instagram too. Bye for now.
