If you haven't heard of Corey Linsley then don't worry, hardly anybody else outside of the Green Bay Packers locker room has either. Except for one man that is, Seattle Seahawks star defensive lineman Bruce Irvin.
Irvin and Linsley will be facing off against each other directly on Thursday, the first game of the 2014 National Football League season, and Irvin says he is going to make life hell for the rookie out of Ohio State.
Pain from Bane
“I’m going to pray for him,” Irvin told ESPN earlier today. “It’s going to be a long night, man. We’ve got to just take advantage of it. All the weaknesses that [Linsley] shows us, we’ve got to expose it,” Irvin continued.
“Hopefully, Bane going to do what I know he’s going to do to him. So, we’ve just got to be ready.”
Bane is Irvin’s nickname for the powerhouse Seahawks nose tackle Brandon Mebane, who is more than likely going to make Linsley’s night one that he will want to forget.
Rookie to the Fire
Linsley was selected in the fifth round of this past May’s NFL draft, and after the Packers starting center JC Tretter suffered a fracture in his knee during the pre-season, the 23-year old has seen himself thrust into the starting center position.
And if Linsley was hoping for an easy introduction to the big league then he is bang out of luck with his Packers side going against the fiercest defense in football as well as trying to hear snap counts while contending with the league's loudest fans at CenturyLink Field.
Good luck Corey, i fear you're going to need it.
We want Packers and Seahawks fans to tell us what they think the score will be tomorrow. Put your thoughts in the comments below...
