Rams' rookie Ethan Westbrooks gets a tattoo to inspire himself

St Louis Rams have been a team in the news these past few weeks and months, but for once, the latest big story surrounding the Rams is not about Michael Sam or Sam Bradford.

Instead, Ethan Westbrooks is the man that has been getting all of the mass media attention in the Rams camp in the last 24 hours.

Who is he?

I know what you're thinking. Who is Ethan Westbrooks? Well the 23-year-old defensive end is an undrafted rookie out of West Texas A&M that is desperately trying to make it in the NFL.

Players in this type of situation know that at any minute their dreams might be shattered by an impulsive decision from their current franchise. But rather than get down about the situation, Westbrooks made the decision to get a tattoo on his face to inspire himself even more.

Weird move

It's pretty weird I know, but let's hear his side of the story and you can VIEW THE BIZARRE TATTOO ON THIS LINK.

"I was just like I might as well go ahead and get it on the face because if nothing else, it will help motivate me to either be a guy that has a tattoo on his face looking for another job or hopefully I make it in the NFL and don’t have to work too hard to do something (else),’" Westbrooks told ESPN. "I don’t feel it’s a bad thing now. I don’t regret it. It speaks for itself."

The tattoo reads “Laugh now, cry later” and has a happy and a sad face.

Tough season ahead

Westbrooks' decision to get a frankly odd tattoo is just the latest piece of pretty big news to come out of the Rams camp this summer.

When the Rams decided to draft Sam in the 2014 NFL Draft in May, they must have known that they were going to be under the spotlight from day one of training camp.

That's what happened, and even though they released Sam this week, starting quarterback Sam Bradford has also created plenty of headlines after he suffered a season-ending ACL injury last month.

It is certainly going to be a tough season for the Rams without Bradford under center, but as long as Westbrooks stays on their roster, they will still be able to have a laugh every time they look at his face.
