Minnesota Vikings Runningback Adrian Peterson has made a bold prediction ahead of the Vikings first game of the season.

He is repeating his prediction from last summer and has made the prediction that he will take his first carry all the way home.

It is a very strong prediction to make but  with his history from last year, perhaps it is one that only Adrian Peterson could make.

Peterson has once again not played any part in Vikings pre-season, just like a year ago however he came into the league on top form then, why not now?

It was rumoured last year that during a Runningbacks meeting with team-mates Matt Asiata and Toby Gerhart ahead of last year's opener against the Detroit Lions.

Peterson took his first carry 78 yards that day and he has made the same bold prediction to see if it will work twice.

When asked about it, he said: "I'll say it again.

"Hopefully it'll work out again."

Either way all eyes will be on Peterson's first carry in the Vikings opener against the St Louis Rams on Sunday.

Next on St Louis

It will be a big season for Peterson this year who has been one of the highest rated Runningbacks in the NFL for many years.

New Vikings offensive co-ordinator Norv Turner has been asked about how he will be planning on using Peterson this season and they are changing his role.

He is largely known for taking the hand off and running with it but now, with their new offensive strategy he could be set for a new role.

We can expect to see Peterson as more of pass catcher than in previous seasons and if he is as deadly in the air as he is on the ground, NFL defences will need to be aware.

Big return to St Louis

Peterson has been speaking about returning to St Louis to take on the Rams, a match that last time he played it he was, in his own words, "angrier than I've ever been on a football field"

Back when Peterson and the Vikings played the Rams in 2012 he rushed for 212 yards including a career long 82 yard touchdown run.

He claims that the entire Rams defense was talking a lot of trash that day and that it spurred him on to go that little bit further.

He has reiterated that he hopes they take the same attitude with him once again this Sunday so that he can get this season rolling with an equally impressive performance.
