Chuba Akpom claims to be Arsenal's fastest ever player

Arsenal forward Chuba Akpom has taken to Twitter to reveal that he's become the club's fastest ever player, reports The Metro.

The youngster, who is just 18-years-old, has rarely featured for Arsene Wenger's side throughout his short career so far, having spent loan periods at the likes of Coventry City and Brentford last season.

Quickest in the squad

It's been suggested that s that the starlet has taken over Hector Bellerin as the quickest player at the north London outfit. It must be noted, however, that the records are different, with Bellerin's record coming over 40 meters, whilst Akpom's has come over 10m.

Sensationally, Akpom has suggested that he completed the 10m sprint in just 1.56 seconds. There's no mention of previous times from the likes of Thierry Henry and Theo Walcott, but it seems that Akpom is out on his own.

Wenger certainly has an extremely pacey team at his disposal, with the likes of Alexis Sanchez, Walcott, Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain and Co. plying their trade at the Emirates, and it remains to be seen as to whether Arsenal's young forward will challenge with the first team stars for a place in the first team over the course of this campaign.

Akpom will certainly be desperate for an opportunity under Wenger this term, but he will have to work hard to prove his credentials at the club.

Steady start

One thing's for sure, Arsenal will be desperate to find their best form after the international break. With just five points from their opening three Premier League fixtures, Arsenal have made a mediocre start to this season.

A last minute winner against Crystal Palace on the opening day of the season was followed up with a battling draw against Everton at Goodison Park. However, Gunners fans would have been left disappointed after the club only managed to secure a point against new-boys Leicester City, already leaving them four points behind leaders Chelsea.

It doesn't get any easier for Wenger's side, though, with the club set to take on Manchester City at the Emirates this weekend. The club then travel to Germany to take on Borussia Dortmund, before taking on Paul Lambert's Aston Villa at Villa Park.

It's a big couple of weeks for Wenger and Co. at Arsenal, and Akpom will be hoping to play some part in the near future.
