German midfield enforcer Christoph Kramer would rather a move to the Premier League despite interest from La Liga giants Real Madrid, according to The Express.
This will come as good news for English duo Manchester United and Liverpool, who have both been linked with the player's services in recent time. In fact, the same report has suggested that both United and Liverpool are preparing a £12 million move for the German international.
However, with the midfielder currently on loan at Borussia Monchengladbach from Bundesliga rivals Bayer Leverkusen, it remains to be seen as to whether his parent club will let him go on a permanent basis in the January transfer window.
And, with Real Madrid now interested in the 23-year-old, it won't be easy for United or Liverpool to land him in the winter market. The same report has suggested that Real boss Carlo Ancelotti wants to partner the German ace next to his international teammate Toni Kroos in the middle of the park at the Bernabeu.
Manchester United in need?
Louis van Gaal may have already splashed the cash at Old Trafford since taking up the reigns this summer, but it appears that he's still on the lookout for a top class central-midfielder.
It appears, then, that Kramer could be his man, with a bid in January seemingly likely. The Red Devils midfielders have struggled in recent time, with the likes of Marouane Fellaini, Anderson and Co. failing to make an impact.
Manchester United fans will be hoping the likes of Darren Fletcher, Daley Blind and Ander Herrera step up in the coming months, as the club go in search of improvement.
Rodgers on the lookout
Van Gaal may, however, have to battle Reds boss Rodgers, who seems determined to build a title winning team on Merseyside. Liverpool have a number of options in the middle of the park, with the likes of Steven Gerrard, Jordan Henderson and Co. plying their trade at Anfield.
Both Liverpool and Manchester United's immediate attention, however, will turn to this weekend's Premier League fixtures, as Rodgers' side take on Aston Villa at Anfield, whilst Van Gaal will be looking to secure his first competitive victory with a win over QPR at Old Trafford.
