Manchester United defender Phil Jones could miss the Red Devils' clash against QPR at Old Trafford this Sunday after picking up a hamstring injury in England's 2-0 victory over Switzerland in Basel, according to reports.

Jones limped off on 77 minutes after a commanding display alongside the similarly impressive Gary Cahill at centre-back.

Potential blow for Van Gaal

This will come as a blow to Manchester United boss Louis van Gaal, who has selected Jones in every league game so far this season and is also favourite to win the club's Player of the Month award.

United will asses the injury as soon as Jones arrives back to Manchester and we will know for sure how serious the injury is.

Trio set for debuts

Elsewhere Luke Shaw, Marco Rojo and Daley Blind are likely to make their debuts this Sunday at Old Trafford so United aren't too short should Jones miss the game.

Also new loan signing Radamel Falcao is available to make his debut after his deadline day move.

Manchester United v QPR kicks off at 4pm on Sunday 14 September.
