Seattle Seahawks Safety Earl Thomas has been speaking out about the team following their week one victory over the Green Bay Packers.
After performing for the Seahawks on Thursday night, Thomas had the weekend to sit round and study every other NFL team.
The performances on Sunday and Monday led Thomas to one very clear conclusion regarding the Seahawks and how they play football.
Sports metaphors come in all styles and pretty much anyone alive ever can be used in some way depending on the situation.
But the metaphor that Thomas went for was one that would be flattering to any team in the NFL.
Being very 'modest', Thomas compared the current Super Bowl champions to the Godfather of Soul himself, James Brown.
Thomas said: "We're in sync and we're swarming the ball. We just have a different sound.
"It's funky and nasty; James Brown-type stuff. It's very unique."
Clearly picking up on the amazing team ethic that runs throughout the Seahawks and led them to a championship last season, his theory isn't completely unfounded.
Thomas played in the Seahawks' 36-16 win over the Packers on Thursday night and had one focus for after the game.
Attention turns towards the desert
Thomas highlighted the Arizona Cardinals v San Diego Chargers game from Monday night as one he would be paying particular attention to.
Thomas revealed that he watched Chargers Quarterback Phillip Rivers more than anyone else to see what he does when the situation is tight.
The Seahawks will take on both the Cardinals and the Chargers before the end of the season but Thomas may have another reason for looking toward the desert.
Who knows what will come from the remainder of the season but one thing that is clear, all eyes will be on Phoenix come February.
The University of Phoenix stadium will host the biggest game of the season come February as Super Bowl XLIX comes to the desert.
The Seahawks have a great chance of not only being in Arizona come the end, but lifting the Vince Lombardi trophy once again.
Who knows if they will actually do it and if they do, who they will have to beat on the way, but Thomas and the rest of the Seahawks are now surely looking towards a potential trip to the desert come next year.
