WWE: Chris Jericho v Randy Orton announced for Night of Champions

WWE have announced two more extremely exciting matches for the Night of Champions pay-per-view event which takes places in Nashville, Tennessee on September 21.

Two former members of The Shield, Roman Reigns and Seth Rollins, will battle it out at the event later this month while Randy Orton faces Chris Jericho following their recent feud.

Rivalry on Raw

During this week's episode of Monday Night Raw, Orton retaliated to Jericho's criticism of his success in WWE by attacking 'The Ayatollah of Rock 'n' Rolla' backstage.

Orton's launch on Jericho came just moments after the latter had endured a knee injury during his steel cage match with Bray Wyatt, which he went on to lose.

Jericho was being assessed by a WWE trainer before Orton came from behind to batter the host of Talk is Jericho, leaving him writhing around in pain and clutching his already-injured knee.

Popular superstars

The match scheduled for just over a week's time will see two of WWE's most popular superstars face off in what is set to be an enthralling encounter.

Despite the match not being for a title of any kind, the fact these two hold an impressive combined 18 world title reigns between them proves we are sure to see something special.

Perhaps Y2J will use his experience to show Orton what it means to be respectful or The Viper will further prove his capability of conquering some of the top wrestlers in WWE. Either way, it will be interesting to see who comes out on top.

Terrific card

This recently-announced match - alongside the face-off between Reigns and Rollins - adds to an already brilliant match card for Night of Champions.

John Cena will be looking to prove his worth in a rematch against Brock Lesnar for the WWE world heavyweight championship, which Lesnar comfortably won at SummerSlam last month.

Elsewhere, Dolph Ziggler faces The Miz for the intercontinental championship while the tag team titles will be on the line in a family affair between The Usos and Stardust & Goldust.

Sheamus will be looking to overcome Cesaro, who cost the Irishman his win over Seth Rollins on Raw this week, as the pair battle it out for the US Championship.

Meanwhile, Mark Henry faces another giant of WWE in Rusev, while we will also see a three-way contest for the divas championship between Paige, AJ Lee and Nikki Bella.

Night of Champions certainly boasts an incredible line-up for the WWE Universe to see, with the recent report of two great matches being included only adding to the excitement.
