Tom Brady has been the New England Patriots for over a decade now. The three-time SuperBowl winner is the most consistent member in the whole of the Pats organization alongside Bill Belichick and owner Robert Kraft.
It seems impossible to believe that a player so beloved as Brady could ever find himself out of the Patriots, except to Brady himself that is.
After the trading of All-Pro offensive lineman Logan Mankins to the Tampa Bay Buccaneers for a backup tight end and a future draft pick, Brady really believes the exact same thing could happen to him in the future.
Away from Here
Talking to NFL Media's Andrea Kremer, Brady said he could see himself suiting up for another team.
“Absolutely. Absolutely,” Brady said. “This is the NFL. It’s happened to everybody, so why would I not think that would happen to me? Hopefully a team could value what I bring to it, and then you try to go out there for as long as you can and do it. But if a team doesn’t see that, the NFL is supply and demand. That’s what it’s always been.”
To further his point, Brady used past examples of notable sportsmen who, after years of famed success with one franchise, were forced to move.
“I’ve been very privileged to play for this team, so my focus is on this year,” the quarterback added. “There comes a time for a lot of people. Michael Jordan played for the Washington Wizards. Who would have ever imagined that? Joe Montana played for the Chiefs. Randy Moss, one of the great players ever, played for (five) teams.”
It really wouldn't surprise me if Belichick decided to cut Brady one day, be it to save money on a contract or if he just wasn't up to it anymore. It's happened with other Pats players just like Mankins who were key members of the team.
What do you think Patriots fans. Will Brady ever be cut by New England and play for another team? Tell us your thoughts in the comments below...
